I've been using substance painter now to create textures. This is my first creation using the tool.
This lantern's name is Argile. He was actually an NPC in a game of Dungeons and Dragons that I was running awhile ago. I made a model of him so that my players could have a clear vision of what he looked like.
With the use of substance painter I brought him into the real world and made an asset that could easily fit into a grisly magical world.
I exported the textures that I created and brought them into unity. I added some particle effects and programmed a simple floating motion.
At this point this asset is finished and game ready!
Inspired by the low-poly yet high detailed textures of Blizzard and Specifically WoW I decided to create something that would fit into that style. This was fully hand painted to achieve that cartoon look.
Here is the digitally painted texture that is over-laid onto the 3D model of the barrel.
Here is a showcase of some simple hand painted textures I did while at Lexxicon Studios.
